    Noosa Alive!, presented by The Noosa Long Weekend Festival, is 10 days and nights of music, theatre, food and fun in intimate settings around the Noosa region.

    See some of Australia's best performers and international artists in nightly dance, music, literature, food, film, visual arts and theatre events, along with thought-provoking forums and workshops.

    The full program is out now and highlights include:

    • Opera Australia will bring a full-scale touring production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro to Noosa together with chamber orchestra and a local school choir of 24 students from Sunshine Beach High School. Noosa Leisure Centre will be transformed from a basketball stadium into a 750-seat performance space for one night only, with 90% of the seating being tiered, and enhanced sound added for the chamber orchestra and opera singers.
    • The return of festival favourite An evening with Queensland Ballet, presenting their young artists in an evening of superb dance and an ‘In Conversation’ with Queensland Ballet artistic director, Li Cunxin.
    • 2017 Festival Ambassador is Australian star of stage and screen, Naomi Price who will star in her new show, Lady Beatle, paying tribute to the music of the Beatles and centring around the women behind such great songs as Eleanor Rigby, Lady Madonna and Penny Lane.

    Meet car racing legend Dick Johnson at the Noosa Hill Climb Winter Challenge, celebrating 20 years of hill climbs in Noosa with the Noosa Classic Car Club.

    The Noosa Hill Climb is classed as one of the premier hill climb events in Australia - this year's marque is muscle cars and a number of cars that compete in the Touring Car Masters race series will be in Noosa.

    Dick Johnson will have autograph signing sessions, and the Bowdens Collection, Tru Blu will be on display in the pits.

    See the thrills and spills of close competition as a broad range of makes and models including the Skelta, XU1s, Minis, Fiats, GTs, Jags, open wheel hill climb specials and the Touring Car Masters cars wind through 14 corners through Tewantin National Park. Great spectator vantage points and grandstand seating at most corners.

    A shuttle bus will operate to take spectators up and down the track to provide easy access to all vantage points, and catering will be available. Limited parking along Noosa Cooroy Rd and at Gyndier Drive entrance.

    Also get up close and personal with the cars and their drivers at a street parade and car display in Hastings Street, Noosa Heads on Friday 21 July from 3.30pm.

  • Pomona King of the Mountain

    The Pomona King of the Mountain Festival held in the Noosa hinterland town of Pomona is a fun-filled event for the whole family, ending with the gruelling Bendigo Bank King of the Mountain Challenge where competitors from around the world run up the steep face of Mount Cooroora.

    The festival program includes other family-friendly races, a 3km family fun run, heritage markets, antiques fair, tug o war, amusement rides, local cuisine and live music. Festivities begin early with the arrival of car clubs showing off their classic vehicles.

    The 4.2km main race at 2.30pm is a steep, almost vertical climb up the mountain and back. Entrants come from around Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Rim and the UK to compete. Celebrations continue afterwards and into the evening with live music and free entertainment.

    There's also the inaugural Prince & Princess race on Saturday 22 July for children aged 9-13, with prizes up for grabs and the opportunity to present the main race winner with their trophy on the Sunday.

    The festival is a project of The Cooroy & Pomona Lion’s Club.

    Explore the Sunshine Coast's beaches, bays, bush trails and headlands, and complete an incredible personal challenge with your friends while helping to restore sight when you join the Sunshine Coastrek that winds up in Noosa.

    The 30km and 60km Coastrek team trekking challenges are run by Wild Women On Top. Teams of four, with at least 50% women, have 10 to 18 hours to complete the challenge, getting fit while raising money for The Fred Hollows Foundation.

    Coastrek has seen thousands of people complete various challenges, raising almost $15 million for The Fred Hollows Foundation.

  • Noosa Strade Bianche

    Ride through the beautiful Noosa hinterland on the Noosa Strade Bianche, one of Australia's premier vintage cycling events that takes in quiet country roads, stunning vistas, charming country towns and a riverside show and shine.

    There are four loops: The 162km Mark Dolan Imperial Century, 137km Gran Fondo, 82km Medio Fondo and 33km Piccolo Fondo.

    In the vein of the L’Eroica cycling event in Italy, Noosa Strade Bianche is for steel-framed cycles only with downtube or bar-end shifters. There are several imposing climbs and challenging descents; sections of ‘strade bianche’ (‘white’ or unsealed gravel roads); and riders pass through the picturesque hinterland towns of Cooroy, Cooran and Kin Kin where there are cafes, bakeries and country pubs.

    The Vintage Bicycle Show & Shine is held at Noosa Marina, Tewantin on the Saturday.

    Noosa Open Studios is a unique chance to visit Noosa artists in their private studios from the sea to the trees, learn about the artists’ creative processes, see their work and even purchase a work of art to take home.

    Almost 50 artists and artisans will welcome the public into their personal creative space across the Noosa region. Be creatively inspired by painters, ceramicists, mixed media artists and other artisans while driving through the picturesque shire of Noosa, discovering back roads and hidden treasures.

    Printed studio guides with maps and details of artists’ studio locations will be available closer to the date.

    More than 30 of Australia's top jazz musicians perform in Noosa for the Noosa Jazz Party at venues including a theatre, clubs, restaurants, river cruises and in the park.

    The Australian Jazz Ensemble performs Wonderful World of Jazz with The Noosa Chorale at The J Theatre in Noosa Heads on 25 and 26 August, celebrating the era of Louis Armstrong).

    The J also hosts six 1hr sets each night from 31 August to 3 September with jazz jams from 5-11pm each night - cost is $40 per night or earlybird price of $140 for the 4 nights, available until the end of July. There'll be a dance floor, light meals available and a free shuttle bus on these nights.

    Other venues around Noosa include the popular dining series at participating restaurants and the free Sunday Concert in the Lions Park Noosaville (next to Yacht Club).

    The Noosa Country Show is one of Queensland's premier traditional shows with horse events, stud beef, dairy cattle, dog shows and poultry; classic cars; art and craft; rides and sideshow alley; live entertainment; fireworks; rodeo; ute muster; competition sections; kids' workshops and more.

    See The Pavilion with arts and craft, cookery, horticulture and fruit and veg sections.

    Two stages have a great program of live music and performance across both days and nights, and don't miss the animal nursery, Grand Parade and sheep shearing.

    The Great Noosa Trail Walk is a 3-day journey through the Noosa hinterland's farmlands, forests, national parks, lookouts and historic villages.

    Dedicated walking trails traverse the Noosa country towns of Cooroy, Kin Kin, Cooran and Pomona, with spectacular scenery and lookouts of the hinterland through to the ocean and lakes.

    Complete the walk at your own pace, taking time along the way to enjoy the landscape, cafes, country pubs, antique shops and local characters. The nightly entertainment program takes place in Kin Kin and Cooran, with camping facilities available. Walkers are also welcome to organise their own accommodation at nearby B&Bs and guest houses.

    A reasonable level of walking fitness is required, but this is not a race, with plenty of time to complete each day’s walk and trail guides to provide assistance and information about the history and landscape.

    A shuttle bus will transfer all camping gear, and will be available to collect tired walkers at rest points along the way each day.

    Numbers are limited to 150 walkers.

    Day 1: Lakes, forests, high hills of Noosa and a country village – 22.5km. Start from the spectacular lakeside amphitheatre in Noosa Botanical Gardens on the shore of Lake Macdonald. Walk through rainforest and farmland to Kin Kin, taking in Twin Hills and Wahpunga Range with stunning views of farmland, mountains, Noosa Heads and the lakes.

    Day 2: Follow the valleys of Kin Kin Creek before climbing up the rainforest plateau of Woondum National Park. Rest at the James McKane Lookout before descending into the historical village of Cooran.

    Day 3: Mountain peaks and antique shopping in country villages – 20 km. Walk through Mt Tuchekoi National Park to base of Mt Cooroora, a great but safe challenge for the reasonably fit. Explore Pomona's antique shops, gallery and cafes, or have a refreshing drink at the historic Pomona Hotel. The Great Noosa Trail Walk finishes at the Old Railway Station Gallery.

    Noosa Beach Classic Car Club hold their 29th annual Classic Car Show on the Sunday of the October long weekend holiday in the heart of Noosa. The event is open to many makes and models, and the marque of the year is Holden.

    Wander through more than $10 million in cars on display with a backdrop of the Noosa waterways and vibrant Hastings Street. See more than 260 cars of all ages and makes on display.

    Parking and shuttle bus: Plenty of parking at The J, 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads with a shuttle bus between The J and Hastings Street throughout the day for a gold coin donation.

    See a spectacular display of Jaguar vehicles, British and European classics and sports cars, American and Australian iron and muscle cars, rare cars, Asian sports cars, classic competition cars and Aussie family favorites, including entries from the Bowden Collection.

    Food and coffee vendors will be onsite and  Zed28 Rockabilly Band will entertain during the day.

    The Noosa Beach Classic Car Show gala evening will be held at Noosa Heads Surf Club on Friday 29 September from 6pm.

    The Noosa Surf Film Festival celebrates surf culture and creative talents in the surf industry - submissions are now open for the third annual festival.

    Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit their films that explore any aspect of surfing through documentary, narrative, animation or anything in between. Submissions of short films to feature length will be accepted until 20 August 2017.

    Last year's event showcased films from 13 countries, and this year it promises to deliver a jam-packed program of music, art, photography and film.
